Forget Angie’s List. Who’d Have Thought There’d be a Marketplace for Plumbers and Handymen?

Oh yes there is…Handy. Come meet its co founder, Umang Dua. Handy is an online platform for booking household services. Want someone to prime your walls, clean your windowsills or build some bookshelves? Just tell Handy what you need and they’ll match you up with qualified professionals.

Prior to founding Handy, Umang founded College Connect, an online platform in India that connected aspiring college students with enrolled students around the world. Earlier, Umang was a Business Analyst at McKinsey & Company.

To hear Umang’s story and how he and other shared economy (or “gig”) start-ups are envisioning the future, come to MIT Enterprise Forum of NYC’s Panel: Uber-ization: Overvalued Business Model or Underexploited Platform. Moderated by Michael Schrage, distinguished professor and author of  “The Innovator’s Hypothesis” [MIT Press 2014] and “Who Do You Want Your Customers To Become?” [Harvard Business Review Press 2012], this panel will be lively, controversial, and interactive.  Join us on November 5th from 5:30pm – 8:30pm!
