WHAT OUR VOLUNTEERS ARE SAYING
Coaching the girls at the MITEF NYC Bootcamp was fantastic — they inspired me with the creativity and energy they brought to their business ideas. I wish my high school had offered an experience like that!

As a member of the startup community I am constantly looking for ways to participate and give back. So I was pleasantly surprised to stumble upon MITEF, a reputed non profit and their mission to help the local entrepreneurial community. As a volunteer for MITEF’s 2015 summer entrepreneur bootcamp that was aimed for underserved high school girls, I found a cause that was close to my heart. But just volunteering for this organization was a pleasure.
Planning the event was fun as I worked closely with other entrepreneurs who were intelligent, had a giving mindset and were as entrepreneurial about this event as their own companies. The well known MIT brand made it a little easier to reach more folks and achieve our objectives. Presenting to the girls was a memorable experience given the audience was a carefully selected group of driven, intelligent and hopeful teenagers. Through it all, I got to know some individuals I respect tremendously, and with whom I am now working on a few projects for my company. It was an incredibly rewarding experience.

The MITEF is a truly exceptional program. From the founders of the program right down to the college interns, everyone involved was passionate about the cause and went above and beyond to execute an outstanding program. Importantly, it was apparent that the student participants learned useful entrepreneurial skills. During the final pitch competition, I watched teams blossom from timid girls afraid to ask questions into poised entrepreneurs that commanded the room and sparked fruitful conversation with their ideas. As a young entrepreneur, I wish the MITEF had been a resource to me in my high school days and I look forward to helping out with future forums.
